Fundación Casa Wabi, Puerto Escondido – Mexico, July 2016
The think tank Media in the Expanded Field is an example of the sustained research and development that underpins our activities. It represented the second stage of a project initiated in February 2015, which took the form of roundtable on the uses of technology in contemporary art. As a result, a brief text was compiled to reach out to a broad audience of professionals from different countries and institutions, establishing the basis for the development of the think tank. Media in the Expanded Field took place at Fundación Casa Wabi, Mexico, in July 2016, gathering an international group of artists, curators and academics who were invited to expand and deepen the discussion on the impact of technology on art institutions. The event was preceded by extensive conversations and contributions from further specialists shared on the online platform MEF Site. The findings and outcomes of the think tank were presented to the wider public through the Report Art Institutions of the 21st Century launched in December 2016.
