Michael Linington is the Head of Philanthropy at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), the world’s leading museum of art and design. Beginning his career in the private sector, Michael has worked with non-profit organisations in fundraising and development since 2008 and now leads a team of 13 in advancing the V&A’s ambitious programme of transformation across its varied capital infrastructure projects, acquisitions, exhibitions and learning programmes.
Prior to the V&A, Michael worked at Tate, as a part of developing the Museum’s international fundraising strategy and overseeing their strategic regional acquisition groups, with a particular focus on Eastern Europe, Russia, Sub-Saharan Africa and the photography collection.
Michael is an alumnus of the American Express Leadership Academy (2015), a development programme for emerging leaders in the non-profit sector, and has a BA in Fine Art Photography from the University of the Arts London and a MA in Cultural Studies from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Michael is also a Trustee of Studio Voltaire, a non-profit gallery and studio facility in London that champions emerging and under-represented contemporary artists.
